Rest Stop (Tuesday) … the optimist

“Whatever life brings, we have the power of reacting to it. How we react is what makes the difference.” Chris, Lifesjourney founder

I like to think of myself as an optimist, but unfortunately that is not always the view of the world I see. I try to find the positive in situations, but some days, finding the positive is not easy. Ever have those days when it seems everything is going wrong, no matter what you do?

If you’re like me you focus on the event, feeling frustrated that there is nothing you can do to change it. Actually, even if there is nothing that can be done to change the event I continue to try to make the event into what I want it to be, but to no avail. The event remains the event.

In actuality, though, I am not helpless. We all have the ability to see the event, and ourselves, from a different perspective. By changing the way I think, and so seeing the event in another way, I have the ability to respond in either a positive or negative manner. I may not be able to change the event, but I can change what I do about the event.

The next time you have one of those days when nothing is going right, pause, change your perspective, and take action. You aren’t helpless; you have power. Be creative and use your power for the good.
